Simon Martin

Born in 1981 in Rouyn-Noranda (Qc), Simon Martin initially studied classical guitar and went on to win first prize at the Guitare-Drummond Competition in 2001 at the college level. Afterwards, his curiosity led him in the direction of music composition. In 2004, he received his Bachelor's degree in Composition with   Éric Morin, and in the same year, participated at the Domaine Forget New Music Session. In 2006 he completed his Master's degree under the direction of Serge Provost at the Music Conservatory of Montreal.

Up to now, his student works earned him three SOCAN foundation prizes. His music has been performed, among other places, in Montreal, Toronto and Victoria where he also participated in various compositional workshops. As a composer, his activities have been supported by the Canada Concil for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.

Simon Martin is now working on a commission from the Bradyworks ensemble. He is also part of the artistic committee of the concert society Codes d'accès.
