Simon Martin
Projection libérantes
Born in 1981, Simon Martin completes a Bachelor's degree with Éric Morin in 2004 and a Master's degree under the direction of Serge Provost in 2006 at the Music Conservatory of Montreal. His student works earned him three SOCAN Foundation prizes. In 2008, he is finalist for the Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music for the piece Icebergs et Soleil de minuit - Quatuor en blanc . The following year, he is one of the four Canadian composers under age 35 who, selected by competition, receive a commission from the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal+ to participate in the Generation 2010 Canadian tour. His music has been performed in many cities across Canada and abroad and has been broadcast on CBC Radio 2. Associate Composer to the Canadian Music Center , his activities are regularly supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. H e is president of the concert organisation Codes d'accès. www.simonmartin.ca
