Passionated of creation music, Jean Marc Bouchard explores all of its aspects as a performer and an improvisator.

Improvisation
Jean-Marc Bouchard worked several years with the pianist and composer Jérôme Blais. They together developed a unique repertoire, a complex mix of composition and improvisation. Jean-Marc's work also led him to perform with several musicians such as Christine Duncan, Jean Martin, Julien Roy, Michel Frigon and Chantal Laplante.

Jean-Marc Bouchard is artistic director of Quasar' s improvation series In Vivo. Ihe 5th edition of In Vivo, Pour le moment... will take place in January 2008.

Interpretation
Aside from his work with Quasar, Jean-Marc Bouchard collaborates as a soloist with several composers. He is a close collaborator of composer Jean-François Laporte from whom he premiered L'espace du blanc and L'Expérience. He is actually developing a new work with composer Julien Roy for baritone saxophone and electronics in which the electronic part is entirely controled by the performer.

Education
Jean-Marc Bouchard is teaching saxophone at University of Montreal, where he is also directing an ensemble dedicated to improvisation : the Atelier d'improvisation. This ensemble gathers about 40 musicians : strings players, wind players, percussions, singers, with classical as well as jazz backgroup.

Jean Marc Bouchard holds a bachelor and a master degree in music (saxophone) from the Université de Montréal.
