L'Atelier d'improvisation
de la faculté de musique de l'Université de Montréal

Founded and directed since 2004 by Jean-Marc Bouchard, l’Atelier d’improvisation is an invitation to experimentation and discovery for all the students interested to develop their own musical language.

The atelier gathers together students with backgrounds in classical music, jazz, electronics, compostion and musicology. Where wind instruments meet with strings, percussions, voices and even computers or dancers. Students in the atelier are doing undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees

The atelier takes place once in a week. Students of the atelier are also giving 3 concerts per semester. Generally the atelier is made up of about 30 students divided in groups of 7 musiciens.
